Qinglai Chunqi - Contemporary Chinese Mineral Pigment Artist

Born in 1991 · Based in Guangzhou, China

Qinglai Chunqi explores the poetic possibilities of mineral pigments in a contemporary

context. Her work is defined by a quiet intensity—subtle, introspective, and deeply rooted in

the aesthetics of East Asian tradition. She reinterprets the delicate techniques of Nihonga-

style painting through a distinctly feminine and personal lens, creating still worlds that

resonate with inner stillness and time.

She studied under master artists Lian Yang, Shi Ye, and Ren Shaoshi, completing the 12th

Beijing Mineral Pigment Advanced Program, and later graduated from the 2025 National

Advanced Mineral Painting Program at the Art Development Center of China’s Ministry of

Culture and Tourism.
